Feng Shui Simply

May 20, 2013

blessedelements

Most know that Feng Shui is used for interior design to bring harmony and balance to one’s life. Cheryl Grace inspires us to think about using Fung Shui for fine tuning the internal environment within ourselves in her book called Feng Shui Simply Change Your Life From the Inside Out.

To use Feng Shui for inner growth the author suggests that first it is important to clear old belief systems, skepticism and doubt and fixed opinions and stop being inflexible in our view points.

Aligning thoughts for a better outlook on life are presented in this book. Some of the techniques suggested are:

Those approaches consist of simplifying your life
Take everything that happens in your life as a gift (Both perceived good and bad.)
Practice deep appreciation and let go of the 5 year plan and serve others.

The book is rich with information and resources so the reader can continually learn Feng Shui for inner harmonious balance and growth after the book is finished being read.

I found this book very inspiring with a new approach that makes me so excited to study these techniques further. This is a book I love and know it will be a book I will continually read as a viable resource. I’ve learned so much about using Feng Shui both in the home and using it inwardly to reach goals and balance I want in my life.
The book is written simply with a Bagua Map with the zones that correlate with the energetic qualities needed to bring harmony.

Feng Shui Simply by Cheryl Grace is a great book encouraging the reader by giving them self-confidence in using techniques that can bring great results. Another thing I love about this book are the suggestions of books that can be read to continue learning techniques of Feng Shui that can be used to gain better intuition.

From My Hands and Heart

Kate Mackinnon's book entitled 'From My Hands and Heart' Achieving Health and Balance with Craniosacral Therapy is a book of information about the technique of massage dealing with this technique. The book explains CST and the way it is used as a treatment.

Kate Mackinnon writes about her experiences with this type of therapy and gives examples of how she used it to bring relief to those suffering before embarking on this type of therapy. She explains how she began using this technique as a physical therapist and how she feels it is a more natural technique that cooperates with the body’s ability to heal.
The book gives several examples of her technique and the results they brought by using her hands and intuition while using CST. A large team of practitioners are now favoring this method in which they feel the focus is more on individual's well-being. A portion of the book is also devoted to explaining how individual may help themselves at home between sessions. It suggests simple, safe techniques that anyone can perform and receive.

Although I personally found this book a little hard to get interested in and be excited about reading, I did think of people in my life that would probably enjoy reading it and applying it to their lives. I don't doubt the effectiveness of this technique I just found the book to be a little average and dry in the way it was written. I think those already in the profession of massage or physical therapy would probably enjoy the book and add the knowledge to their skill to launch a new career and steps to deepen their knowledge of helping people through touch.

The author Robert Holden, Ph.D writes a wonderful book asking the question why aren’t courses offered in education facilities that teach about love? If the reader is not aware how important the emotion of love is then they will before the end of the book.

The book has fun insights of the author’s childhood history as he reveals his curiosity and certainty of how important this emotion is to all aspects of our life.

Throughout the book the author reinforces his belief that “Love is the real work of your life” and “As you release the blocks to love you flourish even more in your relationships, work, and life.”

This book is packed with inspiring gems and tips to becoming aware of love and how to get it in your life.

Loveability is a great book to use if some one wanting to build self-esteem and to practice the art of loving yourself. There are constructive tips and exercises to use and why it is so important to love yourself so you can love others all the more.

This book is sectioned off into five parts entitled:
• Love Is Your Destiny
• Love Is Who Your Are
• Love Has No Conditions
• Love Knows No Fear
• Love Is The Answer

Some of the things I enjoyed in this book besides the contents are the wonderful quotes used and the references to books the author read that brought him to the point of his knowledge about this subject. It sparked my interest to the point where I have jotted down a few of the titles so I can better explore the emotion of love myself.

Whether a reader would love to practice self-love or keeping a relationship with a significant partner strong then this book has lots of useful tips. Robert Holder is the best-selling author of Happiness Now, Authentic Success, and Shift Happens. He is also the creator of the ‘Loveability program’ so is an excellent resource for guiding his readers to the importance of love.

The Importance of Being Extraordinary

Mar 20, 2013

blessedelements

The Importance of Being Extraordinary is a 2 CD Set of a live lecture of the #1 New York Times Best Selling Authors Eckhart Tolle and Dr. Wayne Dyer.

The CD consists of opinions of these remarkable influential people on a variety of topics.
Both men discuss biblical text and how they apply to our lives and also explore problems existing in today’s time. The CD is filled with humor, wisdom and philosophical insight from both men. Among the topics discussed are the subject of Ego and if it is always bad and the meaning of life.

I was curious before hearing this CD if each speaker would compliment each other of if one speaker would dominate the other. Both speakers personalities blended perfectly and gave profound wisdom to the listener. Listening to this CD I knew it would be hard to review it as the information given was vast and could be personalized and applied to who ever listened to this CD set. At times the conversation was very deep and encompassing. It is a CD that will reach the masses in completely different ways relating to each person’s individual and spiritual needs. Also this CD will grow with the listener as each time it is listened to will no doubt give guidance not previously realized before as the individual grows higher in spirit levels.

I thought Eckhart Tolle’s interpretations of bible verses were very effective and gave me an in depth realization of the meaning of the text. The topic of positive thinking was discussed and if it was still viable in today’s time. Dr. Dyer once suggested a thought of perhaps it would be best to not focus on Christ dying on the cross but yet the resurrection where Eckhart Tolle suggested that the crucifixion was viable as without the crucifixion then the resurrection would not have been possible. Both agreed that a portion of their growth was because of practicing positive thinking. Those not familiar with either men or those that are already fans will enjoy this CD set and find it a useful resource to ponder, learn and grow in their spiritual life.

Transcendance Expanded

Feb 08, 2013

blessedelements

TransenDancExpanded by Michael Benard Beckwith is an encouraging and inspirational book that renews the spirit of those readers that need it and confirms and encourages those to remain on their spiritual path that are already on the journey. The book comes with a wonderful CD filled with Michael Beckwith’s music. Both the message of this book and the music creates a spiritual dance between the reader/listener and the higher power of the Universe.

Michael Beckwith makes a very interesting point in this book. Life events often hinder us and then block our spiritual stream. He states that the Latin core word of ‘interest’ means “to love.” If you pursue God from this type of interest you will then learn to love and fall in love with God.

I found that point so inspiring and true when thinking of interests I’ve pursued in the past. When I was truly interested in learning about something it became my passion and I lived and breathed it. Isn’t that how our relationship should be with God? Not just paying lip service but love living it? After reading this book you may want to dance through your life too because you’ll find you are now participating fully in the celebration of your relationship with the universe and your place in it.

This book is divided in nine chapters that will inspire the reader in their spiritual journey. So many wonderful points are made in this book that will really cause deep thought and recognition to our roles we should be playing while on Earth.

Attitude is everything and being aware of what God is doing in our lives and the value we can offer to other people’s lives make everyone’s life a living paradise. Some feel they have to die before reaching heaven but we can create heaven on Earth if we all work and flow with the Holy Spirit and perform our roles that we came to fulfill.

The music and lyrics on the CD is uplifting and the words and tune are memorable and I often find I’m encouraging myself by singing some of the songs to myself and stopping the mental chatter of what is wrong and what is not complete and opening myself to the value I contain and is needed in this world as my service to God. We all have value and this book helps the reader realize they are already on their path to find their value and service. We all have many opportunities that are open for the taking as soon as we focus and begin the journey of showing love.

Self love and appreciation is the beginning of the path to find God’s love because when we start realizing and appreciating ourselves and what we have to offer then we can then begin to understand and see the love that God has for us.

Beautiful Girl

Jan 02, 2013

blessedelements

My father always hoped for girls each time my mother was expecting. His wish was fulfilled each time. My father was always aware of the value of the female sector to the universe and always made us feel we were special because we were girls.
Our society has a history of making women second class citizens and even though we are slowly evolving sometimes those ‘old fashion sentiments’ are still passed down.

Christiane Northrup M.D. has a new book out for girls to let them know how special they really are and how to embrace their qualities as gifts and gives the message to celebrate being a girl and to appreciate the wonders of their body.
This book, Beautiful Girl, is beautifully illustrated by Aurelie Polanz and would be a wonderful book for any little girl to enjoy.

Through out the book the author emphasizes that each girl is perfect the way they are and how important it is to nurture their bodies and spirits. I particularly loved the illustration she uses in comparing a girl becoming a woman to the metamorphosis of a tadpole to a frog, caterpillar to a butterfly and like these creatures every little girl will change into the person they are meant to become.

Christiane Northrup reiterates to little girls the important message of taking care of their body and not letting anyone touch them in a way that would make them feel uncomfortable. She also introduces new messages of soothing reassurances of certainty of strengths each little girl has to help her with the things she will need to do in her life. Each little girl reading this book may find security in the fact that she need not feel insecure about becoming a well balanced woman and should feel free to ask other women they feel comfortable with about questions they may have about themselves.

This book is a wonderful gift for any little girl of any age and those developing into women to assure them they do have a place in this world to become the woman they would love to be yet does not diminish the role of males either as the author explains that they have their own special gifts to appreciate.

The Only Thing That Matters

Dec 03, 2012

blessedelements

Neal Walsch writes an inspiring book that encourages, reassures and inspires anyone on a spiritual path.

The book begins by affirming that unusual events are occurring on this planet and you may find your life busier, challenging, and perplexing and may be asking if there is something you are doing wrong but he affirms
“You're doing nothing wrong”

Chapters 1 thru 10 deals more on the subject matter of universal cosmology and I think the points made in these chapters would be very comforting to anyone struggling with the what happens after death and how we as individuals are a part of the universe today and forever.
Our souls and fundamental essence of life continue even after death. We may differ in form but maintain our true essence we have evolved to in our life.
Our body, mind and soul are traveling companions on this amazing journey for those that have accepted the invitation to life.

The later chapters expand into observations and thoughts of the only things that matter and I’m sure most of us know it is not money and material possessions. The book suggests some simple yet effective prayers to keep on the path to living a life devoted to things that matter.

This book would be enjoyed and welcomed by anyone on a spiritual journey and have been called to read this book. I found the book to produce thought provoking ideas and kindled inspiration and new thoughts on my place in the collective body that makes up the universe and found the story of snowflakes a great analogy of how we as humans are just one piece in God’s life size jigsaw puzzle of the universe.

Self-Hypnosis And Subliminal Technology

Oct 23, 2012

blessedelements

I'm a big fan of the author, Eldon Taylor, and have read many of his books. His recent one is Self-Hypnosis and Subliminal Technology.  I found the book fascinating.

The book begins with the history of hypnosis and also debunks lots of myths that circulate about it.  I in the past have deducted that anyone under hypnosis must be in a Zombie like state and will do the bidding of the hypnotist.  Not so as no one under hypnosis will ever do anything he would not morally do if not hypnotized.

The fact is that you’re always in control—you can always end a hypnosis session whenever you choose simply by opening your eyes.  I than began to understand hypnotism in a different light.  You and I have no doubt seen those under hypnosis that has clucked like a chicken.  Would they do that if not hypnotized and the answer is no.  So why do they cluck like a chicken?  The author answers that question in this manner:
"Let me provide an example: There are people who would really like to be funny, to be entertainers, to be the center of attention, but who are afraid of rejection. What if they fail? What if they aren’t funny? What if they have stage fright? You get the picture. This personality type provides the perfect subject for the stage hypnotist. For while these folks hide behind the safety net of the hypnotist that “makes” them do things, they’re able to perform in ways that they’ve always wanted to. Think about it this way: If the person volunteers to be a participant, isn’t he or she already predisposed to play the role?"

The book was easy to read and kept my attention.  I found myself really gathering wonderful information through each chapter.  An interesting fact I learned from the book was about the different stages of consciousness.

One stage is called Alpha consciousness.  This level is one experienced in hypnosis.  We are particularity prone to the acceptance of skillful suggestion in the alpha state.

An interesting fact is that average individual will enter alpha brain-wave levels within four minutes or less of being engaged by television.

My husband and I elected to not watch television about three years ago and I am now more convinced than ever that we made the right decision.

Another good decision I made was picking this book to read and it has broadened my perception and awareness of what I absorb through the power of suggestion.

I received a product to review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed in this post are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

Meals That Heal Inflammation

Oct 11, 2012

blessedelements

Julie Daniluk, R.H.N. is the author of 'Meals That Heal inflammation' this inspiring and helpful book of eliminating inflammation that causes so many ailments that we have been told that the only help is through prescription drugs or that there is no cure.

In this book the author begins with her own story in the book explaining how she struggled with health problems until finding the key element was eating the right foods to eliminate inflammation which were causing the problems.

Inflammation in the body has been known to cause any thing from allergies, diabetes, skin disorders, heart disease, gingivitis, to irritable bowel syndrome. Eating healthy and eliminating certain things from your diet is the first step of taking control of any of these ailments and taking back control of your life. I found the book very interesting and eye-opening.

One of the things I found really interesting was a section that connected Alzheimer's with dental infection. The consequence of poor dental health establishes chronic inflammation in the brain and how treating chronic dental infections may reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s. Interesting information like this is all through out the book. Thankfully the information is not just given with out recourse to take to deal with it. There are recipes in this book which creates a MTHI plan (Meals That Heal Inflammation)

This book is very well written and connected to studies to prove the authors point. Being in the health care profession her book is based on medical knowledge that she has or she has researched through other people in the field.
Chapter 4 is about the infection connection. Taking the quiz helps to assess how your body reacts to infections that are preexisting. The reader then learns by taking the quiz what is causing some of their problems and how use the plan established in this book.

A wealth of information, this book is packed with complete tools to get you into a healthy eating plan to take your life back. There are meals that can assist the body's healing process. I haven't tried all of the recipes but the ones I did try are enjoyable to eat.
The recipes covered in this book cover healing teas to balanced meals and desserts. Every recipe in this book contains foods that naturally heal inflammation. Also included are reference charts, diagnostic quizzes, food comparison lists which makes it a valuable book for your kitchen

What Makes Us Healthy

Sep 13, 2012

blessedelements

What makes us healthy and what is the secret to living a healthy life? Caroline Myss takes on the question and if you think she is going to coddle any self pitying excuses you have for your reasons why your life is not going right, well then, you must not know Caroline Myss.
This is a great CD set and if you have ever wanted to attend a lecture but was never able to then this is the CD set for you.

I have read several of Caroline Myss books and I find her a really 'deep' author. I often have to high light and study sections of her books to grasp the idea she is presenting and reread her books to understand her messages to the fullest. This CD set will be no different and I will continue to listen to this set and no doubt will continually learn something new.
The underlying idea of this CD set is that for us to be truly healthy we must strive to understand ourselves and those forces surrounding us that influence our lives. Once we recognize that our power does not stem from money, sex, power and entitlement but our true power comes from our inner self (soul) then we are on a journey to a healthier life style.

The goal then is to trust the power we truly have by our inner guidance system to recognize the illusion the world has established and the attitudes it promotes for the easy way out. Power is choice in every aspect of our life.

In this 6 CD Set, Caroline Myss takes a frank look at our declining society consumed by entitlement and how each of us are responsible for its continued decline because of our nurturing of our excuses of not taking responsibility of our own characters, power of decisions, and our addictions stemming from our refusal to believe that our Inner guidance (soul) is always stronger than any force that confronts us.

Inner illumination is realizing our relationship with the world of matter and our stamina of our soul. Those on this journey then realize that it is not all about us but is a journey that we all travel together. Dismissing excuses from our lives empower us to know that we now always have options and decisions to make for our own lives. The ego, that we all posses are what blocks us from the truth by way of pride, fear, greed and the need for power. It is the ego that blocks us from truth and causes imbalances and illnesses. This CD is a spiritual journey to lean how to dismantle the walls we have constructed and put our trust back into our inner guidance that leads us back to a balanced life and health. There are so many thought-provoking aspects of this CD that it is impossible for me to capture it all in this review.

I received a products to review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed in this post are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

Wishes Fulfilled

Aug 15, 2012

blessedelements

If the theory of “presentation is everything” is true in the eyes of a chef then surely “attitude is everything” to an individual who wants to master the art of manifesting.

Dr. Wayne W. Dyer is the author of many books all dealing with aligning your thoughts to that of our higher source so we can be in sync with the holy energy and find the life of peace and prosperity of the things we desire as God meant us to be.

This book, ‘WISHES FULFILLED Mastering The Art of Manifesting‘, explores several incidents of the bible and other philosophers and teachers to create a solid path to get the reader to that spiritual journey.

Beginning with the concept we should have of ourselves, Dr. Dyer uses the incident in the bible where Moses met God in the desert as the burning bush. God reveals himself and several times throughout the bible by His/Her name of “I Am”.
In accordance to that, we too as those in His/Her image should also face life with the attitude of I Am. “I Am Fueled by God, I Am Happy, I Am Peace are just a few ways we should consider ourselves. Statements as I Am Tired, I Am A Failure, ect are in truth blaspheme to God. We after all can do all things through God so accepting anything less is cutting ourselves short of the mission we have here on Earth.

Focusing on how we are feeling, thinking and behaving are all parts of the key components to aligning ourselves to rightful thinking and finding our Higher Selves.

Dr. Dyer uses several examples of incidents in his own life and those of others to help the reader understand how to tap into the Love of God and emulate it.

Imagination and impacting the subconscious mind to stimulate the growth we want to see in our own life towards manifesting our desires that are in accordance to God’s desires are explored in this book.

Normally I devour any book I read by this author but this book was different. I read it at a slow pace and will no doubt read it several times again before loaning it to another.

The book was well written, inspiring and clearly defined with ideas and steps to take to master finding one’s higher self. For myself, I will need to study this book rather than merely re-read it to get the fullest benefit. I loved the examples given in the book and found it different from the ones previously written by this author and would recommend it to anyone seeking a stronger spiritual walk.

Tapping Into Ultimate Success

Jul 08, 2012

blessedelements

Tapping Into Ultimate Success’ was really an interesting book. The concept behind it is using the Meridian Tapping technique to aid a person to overcome fears, limiting thoughts and beliefs that may be blocking them from finding a successful route to achieving their desired goals.
tapping
The book is written by Pamela Bruner, who has successfully used this technique to build a million dollar business in three years and by Jack Canfield who is best known for his co-authored book of the ‘Chicken Soup For The Soul’ series and his books and teachings on guiding others to success in life and business. The book also comes with a DVD that helps illustrates the Meridian Tapping techniques on portions of the body known as the energy meridians of acupuncture.

This technique is favored by some as it is felt that the process takes less time to eliminate negative thoughts and energies than other methods which take more time to eliminating walls built by limiting thoughts and beliefs accumulated in life.

The book is well laid out, interesting and backed up by examples of people’s experiences that have used this process. Tapping is very therapeutic and opens the mind to realizations of limiting believes normally accepted in the past. This realization then makes it possible to over come them and accept truer thoughts that would lead to a more positive and powerful approach to life.

I would recommend reading the book first before watching the DVD. My son and I watched the DVD first and were skeptical at first about the process. While reading the book I then was able to understand how this technique was created and the benefits that came because of them.
Unlike most books, Tapping Into Ultimate Success does not just act like a map that one needs to follow and then rely on time and their own energy to accomplish it. This book is a map, compass, and supplies the reader will need to get them from point A to point B in a shorter time span in order to overcome blocks in life that may be limiting a person to reach their ultimate potential.

Although some may label this book as weird I feel it offers valuable lessons to those on the path to finding their success in life and their business. I think it especially offers valuable methods to use to work through fears, negativity, and bad experiences of the past. This tapping process is being used successfully by those suffering from severe traumas and those afflicted with PTSD.

Tales of Everyday Magic: My Greatest Teacher DVD

Jun 16, 2012

blessedelements

A Story of Forgiveness-Tales of Everyday Magic- My Greatest Teacher.
I am very fortunate to have an outstanding father. He passed away this month but I don’t think I will ever use the past tense of “had a father.” He will always be my father and the lessons he taught me will continue to guide me through this life even though he may not be physically visible to me to see it.

Many people did not have a father that was a positive influence to their life. Some I know have suffered greatly because of how they were treated by their fathers either physically or mentally.
Tales of Everyday Magic: My Greatest Teacher is a 45 minute movie based on the story of Dr. Wayne W. Dyer. Dr. Dyer is a well-known author and inspiration to others in living life through positive intentions and in motivating people to live a life through the influence of God or Universal flow by practicing attributes of love, generosity and forgiveness.

Dr. Dyer did not have the benefit like I did of having a wonderful father to cherish and emulate. His father abandoned the family shortly after his birth and never supported the family financially. Due to the hardships that occurred to this abandonment his mother was forced to place her three sons in a foster care program until she could become financially stable and support them on her own.

Feelings of blame, hate and resentment grew as Dr. Dyer became older and he often blamed his father’s rejection for how he treated others and his outlook on life. Tales of Everyday Magic: My Greatest Teacher is an account of an occurrence of events which leads the main character to begin a journey of finding his father and ultimately finding the path of forgiveness.

I watched the movie and was moved by the struggle of the character in the movie, Dr. Ryan Kilgore, in his quest to find success in career, knowing his failures of commitment to his family and his search for a father he felt rejected him. The events which took place in the movie lead him to finding his father and accepting the realization and decision for forgiveness. The event changed his mind-set and life as it opened the door to his own abilities to give love and guidance to others. I loved the analogy, forgiveness and a snake bite, which was given in one of the scenes in which he spoke of meeting with a wise chief and learning the philosophy of a snake bite.

It is not snake bits that kill a human, it is the venom from the bite. Leaving the venom in the body to let it take its destructive course leads to death. Using the venom and turning it to medicine ultimately can save a life.

Forgiveness is not necessarily done for the person that wronged us but for ourselves so we can heal, learn from the event, and become the true spiritual individual we were born to become.

Deep Truth

Mar 19, 2012

blessedelements

This is a book that analyses past conclusions from science and debunks several that we thought were truthful.

The author takes on several subjects such as global warming, chromosomes/DNA among a few.
The author concentrates on several false assumptions which has caused our science to be incomplete. He also brings up valid points of how he comes to his conclusions.

He illuminates each false hood to the reader where one can understand how we have been given so much invalid information yet the mistruth is still being taught and believed.

The author feels that dismantling the falsehoods so the truth can be received is the bases of the survival of our civilization.

This is a well written book and the author tackles a lot of subjects. There were some areas although I believe differently caused me to understand another view and I felt his arguments valid and it broadened my perspective.

Someone who loves science is going to embrace this book and want to pass it on to others. I whole heatedly agree with the author that getting rid of misconceptions and focusing on the truth from a valid science conclusion is a path we need to take for the survival of our species.

I do not enjoy reading books from a science view point so found this book dry and slow to read. I do know however that those I know who do love science oriented books would love it.

As part of the FTC disclaimer rules I am making you aware that I received this book for free from Hay House Publishing for this review. The opinion in this review is unbiased and reflects my honest judgment of the book.

The Golden Motorcycle Gang

Dec 20, 2011

blessedelements

Sometimes you pick up a book and know while reading it that it was something you needed without knowing you had the need.

I felt like this several times while reading The Golden Motorcycle Gang by Jack Canfield and William Gladstone.
If you are familiar with the Chicken Soup for the Soul series then your are already familiar with Jack Canfield and William Gladstone authored the book The Twelve.

The book states it is a ‘Story of Transformation’. It is indeed. Not only for the ones who wrote it but for the ones that are fortunate to read it as well.

This is a fun book to read and is told in the third person about the life of Jack Canfield, his purpose in life and the people he meets in his life that also are a part of the ‘master plan’ of a more positive world.

This is a heart warming book that will inspire. If you have always felt that you were here to play a more major role in contributing to the ‘goodness’ in the world then this book will motivate you to examine your current situation and look around contemplate your life and the path to your true life’s purpose.

On a personal note I had a couple of revelations on my own and will be working with individuals that were placed in my life to spread kindness and more positiveness in my corner of the world. If I hadn’t read this book I don’t know if I would have had the revelations.

Dissolving the Ego, Realizing the Self

Nov 08, 2011

blessedelements

Dissolving the Ego, Realizing the Self: Contemplations from the Teachings of David R. Hawkins, M.D. Ph.D. Edited by Scott Jeffrey has been on my list of books to read.

Dr. Hawkins has written several books over the years. The author is an internationally known psychiatrist and spiritual lecturer on the awareness of the self. His work has been translated into more than 17 languages.

This book was edited by Scott Jeffrey who has masterfully organized the teachings of David Hawkins into three sections.
The “self” (Ego/Mind), Transcending the self, and Realizing the Self.

Scott Jeffrey also wisely created a glossary at the end with the meanings of the terms, such as, Consciousness, Duality, and Ego. It is a wonderful addition to help explain those terms for readers that are unfamiliar with these forms of expressions.

I knew it would be a great pocket size book to leave at my bedside and read as a thought provoking snippet each morning before meeting the day.

I enjoy reading quotes and passages from this book as they inspire me to turn inward and be more reflective and raise my awareness of my role in life.

So often I get in my own way of growing spiritually as I lean on old habits or reactions. This book gently teaches and inspires me to come to understand myself and let go of old ways, or ego, that are not one with the Universal flow and love of God.

I’d like to close with a snippet from the book, Dissoving The Ego, Realizing the Self, to show you the rich content it offers for those of any faith.

“Evil is not the opposite of God but simply the denial of God, just as falsity is not the opposite of truth but its refusal.”

This is a wonderful book to buy for meditation or to use as a companion with a book filled with daily thoughts and quotations you may already be using. I also think it would be a great gift to buy and tuck inside a Christmas stocking for some one on your gift list.

Adventure in Everything

Oct 14, 2011

blessedelements

Driving to my out of town destination last week I felt hurried and stressed. Then the thought occurred to me what a miracle it was to be able to get to my destination in just an hour of driving time compared to the wagon train days where it took months. I started observing the trees and magnificent sky and my trip then turned into an adventure.

Noticing my change in mood I had to ask myself what caused this transformation of mindset? “Adventure In Everything” by Matthew Walker came to my mind. I have to tell you that I absolutely love it when I read a book that actually begins working in my life without me even trying.

Matthew Walker has worked as a mountain guide and now guides his readers with this book to create adventure in their life and career. The author chooses five elements of adventure to demonstrate how to seek high endeavors for ourselves, embrace uncertain outcomes, totally commit to a chosen endeavor, and tolerate adverse situations and how adventure requires great companionship.

Each chapter focuses on one of these elements with great examples and exercises for the reader to practice. I’m not one who really enjoys journaling but I have to admit that the exercises suggested that did require journaling were painless, easy and surprisingly effective.

Another reason I enjoy this book is that it is unisex. It is one of those books I can easily share with my daughter, husband or son so they too can experience having an adventure in everything!

You Can Create An Exceptional Life

Sep 15, 2011

I feel as if I’ve just returned home from a great weekend trip with two of my best friends. I’ve just finished reading, “You Can Create An Exceptional Life” by Louise Hay & Cheryl Richardson.

Learning this new information from tips by Louise Hand and Cheryl Richards has left me revived, inspired, and excited about my new possibilities.

If you think you’ve learned all there is to know about positive thinking and self care then prepare to admit you were wrong! These two inspirational ladies take you through their experiences and daily habits they use which have aided them to become motivational and happy women.

Louise Hay and Cheryl Richardson team together to write a book to prove that there are always new aspects and techniques to learn and use for those of us who believe we can co-create our own life. Cheryl Richards writes the book by spending time with Louise Hay and gains valuable tips concerning how to begin your day and other life lessons.

Through out the time writing the book Cheryl is inspired from Louise and adapts the tips into her life and writes about her experiences and how they worked to help her become a more rounded and energized person.

This is a book you will want to keep by your reading chair and keep refreshing yourself on becoming a stronger and a more vibrant person. It consistently inspires me to adapt new and working techniques to become positively powerful in life and I don’t hesitate at all to recommend it to anyone else seeking the same path.

The Power of Your Spirit

The Power of Your Spirit is a guide not just a book to inspire. The book covers four main phases of a spiritual journey and the daily practices help the reader to travel through each.

The first phase is recognizing the Universe and the spirit you posses and connecting each through a daily practice.

Realization begins that the Universe is a never ending source of creative inspiration and how our lives are interconnected to help each other. This acknowledgement motivates us to become conscious to a living an authentic life.

The importance of mediation is discussed and helpful tips are suggested.
The daily practice of mediation and centering your breathing helps to relieve anxiety, fear and begins the participant on the road to relaxation and peacefulness for yourself and others.

The second stage expands to not only gaining more knowledge about yourself as an extension from the Creator but spiritual growth comes from applying experiences and the desire to discover other areas of the spiritual realm rather than depending totally on reading and classes.

The third stage is a submitting to the flow of the Universe and laying down trusting logic and your control. During this phase most stop living in the past and future but pay attention to the present and trust more in the Universe rather than being affected by what others think.

Practicing the daily lessons brings the reader to stage four where trust is built fully in the Universe and Divine inspiration becomes a reality. Inspirations to help others and live in peace rather than being motivated by fear brings a rich and spirit filled life.

I read this book twice. It was easy to understand and interesting which kept my attention and my desire to continue to read it.

The second time I read it was read in the way the book was intended to be read, as a guide.

It is thoughtfully written with helpful practices and tips blended with the authors, family and friends experiences in life which back up the points expressed in this book. Those searching for a book in which to expand in spirit would find this book enjoyable and helpful.

What If?

What If? By Eldon Taylor, is an interesting book that is a clear and to the point guide for examining your thoughts and consciousness by challenging you to examine other alternatives and scenarios looking at a situation from a different vantage point.

This is a Self-Realization journey where the author suggests a circumstance in each chapter then asks questions inviting the reader to examine their familiar assumptions which may cause them to relinquish old set patterns of belief systems and become aware of contradictory conviction they may be holding on to in their thought process.

I had expected something entirely different when I began to read this book and at first I was afraid I was going to be disappointed but soon saw the value of the process this book offered.

The situations presented in each chapter are interesting and thought provoking. Through each chapter I learned to examine my thoughts and beliefs and was pleasantly surprised one day when I viewed a certain incident and immediately challenged my own thoughts and saw how it was in contradiction to my emotions and reactions to the incident.

This is a journey of discovering to who you really are and change thoughts that have been programmed into you by your culture or through society’s standards.

Those that are ready to take a trip to self detection and to learn to do your own thinking will greatly appreciate this book.
